Motivation Monday

“#10secondchallenge”

“Make Me Slim”
“Retouch Me”
“Body Shaper & Slimmer”
“Perfect Me”

These are just a few of the thousands of ridiculous apps available that at the touch of a button promise to...

“give you a beautiful face”
“find your perfect skin tone”
“give you the perfect figure”

because apparently...

“A perfect selfie photo is the key to your popularity on social networks” 🙄

and wait for it...

“No one will even notice your photo is edited”

What the 🤬!?!?!? I’m not joking, this is actually what these apps claim! This BS is the main reason why we have insecurities about our bodies! Our view of what our bodies “should" look like is shaped by the images that we see on social media and sadly so much of it just isn’t real! It’s not just women though...there are specific apps for men that promise to give them “amazing abs and chest muscles instantly” and “increase your groin size” 😳

Before looking into this topic I had no idea actually how popular these apps actually were and it’s no wonder with them being so accessible to anyone who has a smart phone and a few spare minutes up their sleeve.

I hope by reading this you become more mindful that what you see on social networks and in the media is not always as it seems. I encourage you to sit down and talk with your children about this topic, particularly as they approach their teenage years, because they are the ones that are growing up in the thick of an edited world. They need to understand that their bodies should be respected and celebrated just as they are and not retouched to look a certain way 🙅🏻‍♀️

You know what I celebrate???

ME...the REAL me, inside and out 💁🏻‍♀️ the one on the left with the curves, lumps and bumps 😉 all of which are more than ok with me because I am perfectly fine with being perfectly imperfect 👌🏼 #selflove #embrace#keepingitreal
