"If you want quality, act as if you already have it".

The “As If” principle proves that we can focus on actions to change how we think and feel e.g. lets say you are feeling down, smile and this action will manifest feelings of happiness! Got a spare second…give it a go!

Not sold yet??? Think about these scenarios.

You are lying in bed unmotivated to get up and exercise, instead, you act “as if” you were a person who loved to exercise…You clench your fists as if to say “Lets do this!!!”. Or when you are struggling through a workout, try to smile if just for a few seconds and see the difference it makes.

You feel shy and overwhelmed when walking into some social situations, instead, you act “as if” you are someone who is confident, you stand tall and your chest is proud. Its amazing the difference standing in a more commanding and confident way can effect the way you feel.
Despite feeling sluggish and unhappy with your body and your nutrition, you know you want to really change things around - you act “as if” you are someone who looks after themselves, you buy food to nourish your body, when you look at yourself in the mirror its with love rather than hatred.

There is an abundance of research that shows that couples who are ‘in love’ have engaging conversations (more than just about the kids, work and dirty washing). So think about this …you are having dinner together, just the two of you and rather than talking about the same old things and not really truly listening to each other you acted “as if” you were a couple who were very much ‘in love’ (I'm not saying your not but sometimes we forget to act like we are), a couple who enjoyed their one on one time together, who asked questions and genuinely listened. Ill make it even easier for you to put this theory to the test - here are a couple of questions that will create conversation different to what you might normally discuss (the internet is full of other ones), I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what happens to your mood as a couple as you engage in this discussion:
- Who is someone that inspires you?
- What do you wish we could do more of as a family? And just the two of us?
- If you could pick anywhere in the world to travel to on our next holiday where would it be?
- What is your prefect day off?
- Hollywood called and they want to make a movie about you, who do you want to play your character?

So hopefully you can see, there is a lot of power behind the “as if” principle and it can have such a positive impact on your health, fitness, career and even your relationships. Really, its hard to think of a reason why you wouldn’t give this a go today…”As if” might just become “I am” ✌🏼
