“🌱🌈🌍🐷💕 BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD!”
Honestly, I never used to care about stuff, the real stuff, like the environment, politics and world issues etc. I turned a blind eye and always thought, what’s the point in caring, little ol’ me can’t make a difference anyways.
I’m not sure what changed but over the last year or so I started giving a sh*t and as I’ve formed opinions and found my voice, people have said to me (just like how I used to think)... “Why bother, you and I can’t make a difference”
How I wish I knew that this wasn’t the case earlier.
Whether it be speaking up and taking action about issues relating to our environment, our health, animal rights, world peace, here is one real life, very simple, ever day scenario that demonstrates how much of an impact just one person can have.
One morning last year I saw a man collecting rubbish down at Bicentennial Park. It inspired something in me to do the same and now, as a result, sometimes when we go for walks down there we also pick up the rubbish that lines the shoreline too. Not only this but I started reading more about the global warming crisis our planet is faced with and what I can do to help. There have been times when this has come up in conversation with other people and for some a seed is planted and they too take action or start conversations with other people. People then see them making a change and so it goes on.
Of course this ripple effect is not just isolated to showing kindness to our planet, but also to how we treat ourselves (our mind and body) and all living beings on this planet (humans and animals).
Even if we aren’t standing at the front line of a rally, by being the change we want to see in the world we are being activists and we are creating and influencing positive change in others.
So if you don’t already, read up, get inquisitive, ask questions, have conversations, work out what you give a sh*t about and be that change. Trust me, doing this feels pretty freaking awesome!
